Mar 2020

African Magnolia

Ocean Liner Services attended to the African Magnolia with the discharging of some 12400 mt of wheat. OLS as the vessel agent, handled all the husbandry services that the vessel may required whilst in port.

ONE and EMED team up to keep roads safe

ONE availed a container to the EMed rescue and ambulance services to be used as a base of operations and treatment should visitors to the coast need any medical attention. The bright magenta container is visible from afar. A great collaboration for a good cause!

Boka Expedition

OLS also attended to the firefighting tug Boka Expedition. The vessel called alongside to perform a bollard pull test at the dedicated bollard behind Berth 8. A bollard pull test measures the pulling capability / usefulness of the ship in a stranding scenario or in holding a large tanker or aircraft carrier off a lee shore. They also had to do some calibration on their towing winch. OLS assisted with the necessary arrangements and had to arrange for provisions and two life buoys as well.

Historic first docking

OLS had the honour of attending to the MS Boudicca, the first passenger ship to moor at the new cruise liner jetty of Namport's new terminal. The passenger liner was greeted with much fanfare. She is about 207m in length carrying 881 passengers and 329 crew. OLS assisted with basic agency services. The garbage disposal was a bit of a challenge as the vessel had 38 cubes of garbage and therefore extra skips had to be provided on short notice.

Transocean Norge

Ocean Liner Service is handled the husbandry services and crew transfer for the Transocean Norge oil-rig. This is a new generation harsh environment oil drilling rig built to withstand the toughest weather and rough deep sea environments. The rig was completed earlier this year and is on her way to the North sea on the Norwegian shelf where she has been awarded a six well drilling contract for Equinor.

Deepsea Stavanger

The OLS team attended to various ships agency tasks for a number of vessels including Deepsea Stavanger ( DSS Drill Unit), BB Troll (PSV), Normand Ranger (PSV) and the Anuket Corral (Bunker Tanker). Services included Ships Agency, Crew changes, Visas, Customs Clearance, Cargo Operations, Provisions and Bunkers.

African Sprinter Bunkering

OLS attended to the African Sprinter, who over the weekend, supplied offshore bunkering to the M/v “Hawk”, a semi-submersible vessel transporting the Rig ASKEPOTT. Ols also arranged spares/ technical provisions for the vessel.

OLS represents SAFWAF

OLS is now the Namibian representative for the SAFWAF multipurpose service. This service is an independent multi-purpose shipping liner from South Africa to West Africa, calling on Cape Town, Durban, Walvis Bay, Matadi, Boma, Pointe Noire and Luanda/Sonils. It accommodates bagged, unitised cargo and other cargo e.g. vehicles, machinery, transformers, oil and gas parts, bulk, rail and steel and containers.
